"A delegation of 10 people representing Dallas traveled to Sendai on August 27 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Dallas-Sendai International Friendship Cities agreement. On August 29, they met Mayor Umehara and participated in a ceremony to dedicate Texas Serenade, an original limestone sculpture created by Dallas artist Eliseo Garcia. The sculpture, a gift of the City of Dallas, Japan-American Society of Dallas/Fort Worth, and the Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art is now on permanent display.
